Sofia Gasperino Journal #10

Jimi Hendrix’s music was inspired by rock and roll, soul, and blues. The genre it fits in best with is electric blues. The electric guitar is prevalent in his music. The vocals range from bluesy to rock and roll depending on the song. His lyrics tend to tell a story, which is common in the blues genre.
The Avett Brothers are associated with  folk, bluegrass, indie rock, and ragtime styles of music. The use of the banjo is prevalent in most of their songs. The banjo originated in Africa and was later transformed into an instrument common in bluegrass music. Their lyrics also narrate a story many times, which is an influence from the Blues. Another influence it has from the Blues is the melancholy melody that is common in their albums.
