Journal #10 Progress Report for Brian Crittenden, Kevin Stefanye, Richie Parks, and Brandon Kang

Since our last progress report, we have met up to discuss the important changes that we needed to make to our survey questions. First off, we changed to title of our survey questionnaire from "Procrastination and You" to "Technology Use and You" because the previous title seemed a little leading, such that it assumed the person procrastinates already. Next, we added an 'other' option to the 'forms of technology engaged in' giving the person being surveyed an option to add input. We expanded the options of how much time was spent engaging in technology use in order to obtain more accurate results from a broader range of times. Most importantly, we added a rationale to our survey that will gauge the effect of technology use on procrastination. We incorporated a scale which ranges from a positive effect on work ethic to a negative effect on work ethic in which the person must circle a number between 0 and 10. Lastly, we incorporated places in which the person can write their major, race, and year. This aspect will be helpful to analyze statistical standings of the survey.
As a result from our changes in the survey questionnaire, we will now have to redistribute our surveys and analyze the results. We have already handed out some of our surveys to a few teachers and students, but we will now have to hand out our refined surveys to more people. As of now, we do not have much information to compare our hypothesis to the results. However, we plan to obtain more accurate results from the refined survey questionnaire.
Since we made some changes to our survey questions, we also consider making revisions to our cover letter in order to accommodate those changes. Our hypothesis of technology causing procrastination and of students procrastinating more than teachers still remains, however we may want to incorporate a hypothesis whether or not specific technology affects work ethic in a positive way or a negative way. Other than that, we are making solid progress towards our end result.
