The album
Metropolis is a narrative story of Cindy Mayweather and her illegal love in the
future world. The songs go in an order
to tell the story of Cindy throughout the hunt.
The first song makes it clear that they are sending professionals to
disassemble Cindy piece by piece. She
also speaks to the president in the song “Mr. president”. This song includes the subject matter of
social classes and health care. She is
writing her letter to the president, but her letter is not a literal letter but
instead a song that is on the album Metropolis.
This album
fits in the urban/alternative genre of music. Each song has a very different
fell from some jazzy to some seem like choir songs. The reason I say its urban/alternative is
because it has been nominated for an award for that genre of music. I believe that her heritage and background
has a large effect on her musical style.
She is a young African American female who is a new face on the music
marketplace. Her songs seem to cover
mostly on a government or higher power that has control over some aspect of her
life. Previously in the song tight rope
there was a lawmaking body that forbid dancing.
She is a fantastic dancer and that is where most of her originality shows. In Metropolis
there is a government that does not allow the love between the two main
characters. She also has had a rough
upbringing because she started as the child of a lower class family that had
many problems. This explains the song
Mr. President where she questions the president on how the money is spent and
how the lower class is commonly forgotten.
