My first source has taught me that the use of sugar and
sugar free foods all depends on the good balance. If the intake/outtake ratio is off, then it
can lead to obesity. Based on this
source I am beginning to believe that sugar free is not necessarily the right
route to go when dieting. It all depends
on the balance of what foods you are taking in that matters. However, I am curious as to how many people
on average are misled about sugar free foods, and therefore end up hurting their
body instead of helping it, and if that is a reason people find dieting unhelpful
with their weight loss. This article strengthens
my thoughts that many people are not dieting properly. The author of the article speaks in a third
person point of view, and there does not appear to be any bias because the author
is simply relaying data that was recorded in a study. I think this article is speaking to both men
and woman of any age between 18 and 50.
The article is pretty easy to read and only minor knowledge of anatomy
is needed to help understand the article better.
My second source taught me that studies have proven that
consuming foods with artificial sweeteners can result in weight gain. This source again strengthens what I think,
which is that artificial sweeteners are very misleading, and are not necessarily
a great substitute for natural sugar.
However, I still want to know more on how many people are still naïve about
artificial sweeteners, and solely eat foods with it than with natural
sugar. The author of this study again is
in third person, and simply describes the results of studies done and gives
reasons as to why those results were found. I think this article requires a little higher
education than my other, however it is still a pretty easy read and most men
and woman of adult age could comprehend what it is saying. The audience for this article is again the
same as my other source. I do not see
any biases in this article, and it has hit my interest on this subject
perfectly and helped me confirm that this is what I would like to research.
Eric, interesting topic! Unfortunately, its something we cant avoid these days. It is good you have articles at different levels, it gives you a good foundation for your paper!
ReplyDeleteEric, this is pretty great! Most people who see things written on food like "sugar free" instantly think that it is healthier for them when in reality, there are some harmful effects of artificial sugars and replacers. I find this relatable because most of us at some point have tried to watch what we eat or limit in some way.
ReplyDeleteI agree that sugar free labels are misleading, just because they are sugar free it doesn't necessarily mean its better for you or healthy.
