Matt Williams Article

Google Source:
The article I chose is from USA Today. If an author wants to work for them, they have to make sure that they get everything right and use the appropriate sources. If they didn’t they wouldn’t be working there for long. USA Today has gained credibility by being right for many years, and only reporting what they believe to be fact. The article is a very reliable source of information about my topic. My topic has been so widely talked about, that there are reliable sources almost everywhere you look. It started out in the scholarly papers, but as the topic grew, authors of newspapers and media outlets started writing about the issue as well and they used the scholarly papers as sources.

Scholarly Source:
The scholarly source I chose is from The Education Resources Information Center. I then had to find the article on the VT library page. The author, Penelope Portman, has written numerous articles about the youth of today. Through the research she has had to do for these articles, she has become somewhat of an expert on the subject. The ERIC only posts articles that they believe as fact. They include journals that go back to 1966 that cover many different subjects. If they were not a reliable source they wouldn’t have had the time to post articles from almost 50 years. The same is true with VT library posts. They only post what they believe is fact. The content is very credible. It is hard to lie about something that everyone can see, in that obesity is on the rise in children.
