I learned to read and write in elementary school. I can remember learning the alphabet in
kindergarten. I used to read books with my parents when I was younger. I also
had a set of BOB Books for kids that were passed down to me from my older
sister. One of my favorite books is Heroes, which I read a long time ago. I
also enjoyed reading The Help because it was written from the perspectives of
several characters in the story and it all came together in the end. I liked
the personalities of the characters in the story as well. Another book I really
liked was Wuthering Heights. Although it is a dark story, I like the complexity
of the vengeful plot. I did not take 1105 because I received AP credit for it. I
like writing because it helps me remember things and get some things off my
chest. I like that there are no right or wrong answers. However, I struggle
with organizing my ideas even when I plan it all out. That is something I wish
to improve. I also would like to expand my vocabulary so that there will be more
variety in my writings. The hardest thing to write is an argument, especially
if I am forced to pick a side. Sometimes, I am not quite sure which side I
stand on. Many times I agree and disagree with pieces of each side of the
argument. This makes it harder for me to convince my readers that I am right
because I begin to second-guess myself. Another issue is that I feel like
teachers may be biased when they grade you. For example, if you are arguing
something he or she does not believe. Also, he or she may not like your writing
style but they might love the way another student writes. I hope that this
class helps me become a better writer by helping me express my thoughts and
ideas on paper and arranging them in an organized way.
