My relationship with writing

Personally reading and writing were not things that interested me at an early age. Growing up in rural areas I was much more content playing outdoors or spending time with my grandparents. My development with reading started with my babysitter who forced me to come inside, sit down, and read and write for at least two hours a day. Therefore my first experiences with reading were not all that pleasant and as unhappy as I was with her, looking back I’m very thankful to have someone like that to instill the importance of reading in my life. While growing up I still preferred working and playing outdoors over reading however, I did find some reading extremely interesting in some cases I couldn’t put books, magazines, or papers down. It was not until early in my high school career that I grew a love for war novels, and one that we read in class was The Killer Angels by Michael Shaara. My favorite because of the immediate connection to my hometown area and all the history it contains. Past English courses have forced me to dip into many different areas of English language making them somewhat unenjoyably. In the 1105 course that I took last semester I didn’t mind the reading that we did because it tied into our discussions very well and they made lots of sense as to why we were spending time on these topics. I would love to explore the aspects of visual emotion in relation to language this is a topic we dipped into in 1105 but didn’t go in depth with any aspect of the topic. Reading and writing about the conditions the United States economy and the lack of respect that America has for the idea of hard labor is something that truly inspires me in a professional sense to pursue my career dreams. My analytical skill with my reading is something that I would love to improve.
