Tony Jackson Evaluating Sources

Source #1: "Visual Arts Career Informaiton" http://www.schoolsoup.com/careers/career_info.php?career_id=87

1. The author is not stated but I assume that he/she is not an expert because this article is a very general overview of art careers. I assume this author is affiliated with the "School Soup" Website.
2. The audience for this webpage is anyone looking for factual and/or statistical information of art careers. There is no exact publication date posted but based on the numbers used in the text one would assume it was during the year 2010. The only contact information is the information behind the "Contact Us".
3. The purpose of this text is to inform through facts and collected statistics pertaining to different art careers. This source uses secondary sources which are not cited. This is an unbiased, Google-found, ".org" website that appears to have had its last update in 2010.
4. This source supports to the perception that many artists are poor. I could see this source weakening my argument.

Source #2: "Helping Students Contemplate a Career in Art" http://www.jstor.org/stable/view/3193945

1. The author is a scholar and chairholder of relevance at the University of Texas at Austin.
2. The audience for this publication is people interested in the way that students are taught about art careers while in school. This article's publisher is a respected art association. The article was published in 2001 with a online link to the original publisher, National Art Educaton Association, website.
3. The purpose of this text is persuade and inform. This is a credible ".org" site obtained through Google Scholar that was last updated in 2001.
4. This source explains how we are engrained to think about art careers as youth and I think it will help and support my in my argument.
